New Digs for Mittleider Garden

Feed Fannin’s Mittleider Research Garden has been relocated to the Fannin County Family Connection on Fannin Industrial Park in Blue Ridge and is settling into its new digs fairly well. Its caretakers, including volunteer Guy Gooch are growing cabbages, tomatoes and cucumbers in this compact space, and all vegetables harvested from the garden are donated to the Family Connection Food Pantry. Nothing goes to waste here, as volunteers are taking the tough cabbage leaves they trim off the plants to Project Chimps, where the resident chimps are enjoying gourmet treats in the form of cabbage leaf rolls with peanut butter.
